Since I started blogging, I try to be more mindful of what I post online. Being behind the scenes a bit more, I now know that once it’s put on the internet, it’s pretty much there forever. Typing words does not always convey the right “tone” and can be easily misinterpreted.
I have a different personality for each social media platform. On Facebook, where it’s mostly my “real life” friends and people who might know me a little more, I whine and vent a lot. I’m not sure why I think they need to know what’s bothering me, but that’s definitely where I tend to complain. I’m working on that because I know it’s annoying.
On Instagram I am #hashtaghyper and all about posting dog pics. On Pinterest I like to pin everything, but mostly foods that I have huge plans to make and yet never do. I mostly use Twitter for promoting blog posts and hosting Twitter parties. With my schizophrenic online presence, I am not sure which social cliche I fit into, but it is probably several of them.
One thing I’ve tried to stop doing is posting when I’ll be out of town. For security and safety purposes you should never announce when you will be away. This is a burglar’s dream, and I’ve heard of them actually trolling social accounts to find prime targets.
