DOCTOR STRANGE is the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel fan or not, this movie is by far the coolest of the year, if not last few years. This is a film that MUST be seen on the big screen in IMAX 3D. The effects are like nothing we’ve ever experienced. I saw this film as part of a press junket in LA. We were actually the first press to see it–how awesome is that?!
It’s not a movie. It’s an experience.
I cannot stress this enough: You must go to the theater and see it–IMAX 3D style. Don’t wait for it to come out on dvd or cable. You will miss out on the most incredible visual display I’ve ever seen. Described by everyone, even the cast and director, as “trippy”, what they’ve created is an adventure for your mind and spirit.
Fans of the comics won’t be disappointed. The storyline and artwork is on point. Because Director Scott Derrickson took this project on as a huge DOCTOR STRANGE comic fan, it was of utmost importance to him to cherish and honor those original ideas.
The storyline. The cast. The character development. The effects. The filmography. All came together in this completely coherent cosmic masterpiece and the final product could not be more exceptional. The movie release was actually delayed to ensure Benedict Cumberbatch could be in it and it was worth the wait. It was all worth it.
Beyond the experience, it’s actually the messages in DOCTOR STRANGE that are the most powerful. Because they’re being delivered by badass super heroes, it’s incredible knowing that the world’s fifteen year olds will be hearing them.
This movie is so much more than just a superhero origin story. It’s the journey of a shattered human. When falling from the highest peak of life, and landing at a depth below any obtainable recovery the mind has two choices–open or close. The latter obviously leading to total defeat. But opening your mind… releases a universe of possibilities and lessons.
