My husband and I are on a superfoods kick and were REALLY excited to add Linwoods Superfoods to our current mix. Linwoods has a HUGE collection of flaxseed products that can be added to just about anything! I sampled the Ground Flaxseed, Cocoa, Strawberries and Blueberries – adding it to smoothies, my granola and yogurt in the morning, whole wheat mac and cheese, and even tried a few of the recipes on the Linwoods website. Quick lesson: Superfoods are a selection of foods that hold high nutrient content. When used daily, they are said to help maintain a healthy heart, boost energy, and support a well-balanced diet. Examples include: blueberries, broccoli, spinach, pumpkin, and tomatoes. Admittedly, many dietitians debate the importance and even the validity of the claim that superfoods provide any additional health benefits, but we have had fun trying to mix new things into our diet.
If you are looking for an easy way to add some “healthy” to your current diet – this is a great place to start. All you need to do is mix it into whatever you are eating anyway. We had a small sample of the flaxseed and hemp mixes – not much taste, but so many benefits that throwing them into anything is a great addition – and adds Omega 3’s, fiber, iron, calcium, and zinc with just a spoonful. The packs they have available are a great size for a great price (size and prices vary), and since you do not need to add much more than a spoonful, they last a long time.
