When it comes to a thermometer, I've become very particular. When my kids were infants, taking their temperature was a nightmare. The under-the-tongue method is useless on a baby and the armpit isn't accurate. They had chronic ear infections so I never wanted to use one in the ear and rectally is just too uncomfortable and invasive. Product received for review. Post contains affiliate links.
Temporal Artery Thermometer
I wish I would have had an Exergen TemporalScanner™ when they were younger. Measuring their temperature has never been faster, easier and actually kind of fun (at least when they're not sick.) And you can literally do this in their sleep. That fact alone is priceless. To use: simply depress and hold it's soft rubber-coated button and lightly scan across the forehead. A red LED light ad soft beep indicate a correct scan.
This TemporalScanner™ is an infrared thermometer and reads a temperature in just two seconds. It captures the naturally emitted heat from skin over the temporal artery, which runs across the forehead and is directly connected to the heart via the carotid artery. One of my favorite parts about this product is that, aside from the 9-volt battery (included), I won't have to purchase anything else for this unit. No covers are needed and it comes with a one year warranty. It is also better for the environment because it contains no mercury. Plus, it's made in the United States! 🙂
Available at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Costco, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Amazon, and Sam's Clubs nationwide, it has a manufacturers suggested retail price of less than $50.
