Parent or not, we all have a heartwarming story of family, love, and connection. I recently received a new book for review, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Parenthood. It features 101 heartwarming and humorous stories about the joys of raising children.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Parenthood
If you have been reading any of my reviews… you will know I am not yet a parent, waiting to be, but not yet! I still enjoyed this book, for many reasons. I felt like the stories helped me realize how thankful I am for my own parents, how my choices growing up would have influenced their lives, and how much work it was to make sure I turned out to be a decent person! In waiting to be a parent through an adoption, hopefully to be completed later this year – I read the book with new eyes, hoping that some of the happy stories were ones I can repeat in my own life – and some of the sad stories are things I can avoid.
In the end, it was full of lessons to be learned both for parents, parents to be, or even if you have parents… we all have parents, right?! Chapters like Treasured Moments, From the Mouths of Babes, Love Conquers All, and Saying Thank You feature stories from birth, to college, to adulthood. Stories about parenting faux pas and less than perfect parenting, stories of amazing truths spoken by children and allowing children to grow into their own person are all ways for new parents to learn and experienced parents to reminisce on times past.
