Copycat Green Tea Frappuccino Recipe

A Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino is one of my favorite drinks to order from the Starbucks menu.

Not that I don’t love my coffee, but the light and fresh taste of the green tea is a nice way to switch it up.

Shelley and I got one every day during our first BlogHer trip.

I never even thought to try to make my own. I didn’t have a clue how to!

After a bit of research, I found out that they use Matcha Green Tea to create the Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino.

Soon after that, my friend Kayla from The Eclectic Element posted her Green Tea Matcha Pistachio Cookies recipe using the powder.

How serendipitous. I knew I had to order some and make my own copycat Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino!

I purchased a pouch of Matcha Green Tea powder from Amazon.com.

It was a lot smaller of a bag than I anticipated, but turns out a little of the powder goes a long way.

With a little help of Google, I was well on my way to making a copycat version of one of my favorite drinks from Starbucks.

I found several recipes so I kind of worked off of all of them. I was super pleased with the end result.

Just as light and delicious as Starbucks! It’s not super sweet, but neither are the Starbucks ones, so it was perfect for me.

All you need are 4 or 5 simple ingredients:

  • Milk (or milk substitute of your choice – I used almond milk)
  • Ice
  • Instant vanilla pudding
  • Matcha Green Tea Powder
  • Whipped cream for topping (totally optional – ditch it to keep the calories lower)

After I purchased my Matcha Powder from Kiss Me Organics through Amazon.com, they sent me a free recipe eBook along with it.

It’s loaded with recipes that I cannot wait to try!

I love the Starbucks green tea frap. I add raspberry to mine and it is to die for! You should try it, you will order one every time you go there. I need to find out what they use for the raspberry so I can make mine at home. Thanks for the recipe. Can't wait to try it.

That does sound good. I wonder if it sweetens it enough to add less sugar?

I tweaked the recipe some, since I didn't have almond milk: 3/4 cup lowfat 2% milk, 3 Tbsp. French vanilla pudding, 1/2 tsp match a green tea powder, 3/4 cup ice, 1/8 tsp. Almond extract, whipped cream (optional; use as a topping). This seems to have the perfect mixture of thickness and richness! The almond extract is what gives it that rich taste.

Thank you for breaking this down for your readers. I'm on the Lindora diet and vanilla pudding is one of their meal replacements they sell. Voilá! I can replicate my go to Starbucks drink and satisfy the craving while not cheating the diet. I add a Stevia packet and Win Win!
