As first-time parents, we may be over-thinking toys a bit. We might be picking some that seem like great educational toys and don’t get used. I was excited to receive toys in exchange for my honest opinion from Earlyears. Their toys prove that simple developmental skills can still be practiced in something as simple (and entertaining) as putting toys in a basket or rolling balls down a ramp.
Earlyears: A World of Wonder
Before I had kids, I found it hard to figure out what kind of toys to buy for each age and stage – and now that I have a kid… I still don’t know! I love when I can find websites and stores that can help out. Earlyears has organized their site by ages and stages from 0-12+ months, it makes it easier to find the perfect gift, even for baby! We received two toys in the 9+ month age range, Monkey Basketball and the Roll ‘n Swirl Ball Ramp. Both are affordable at under $20 each and can be found at Earlyears.com.
Monkey Basketball isn’t quite as inventive as it sounds. It is a simple basket with soft toy balls for a little one to practice the skill of taking things out and putting them back in. (Yes, that’s something you have to learn!) I like that the balls are numbered and colorful, so even at a tiny age, we can be practicing numbers and colors. The monkey basket is soft and cute, and it often holds way more than the four balls it came with (like pacifiers and toy elephants).
The Roll ‘n Swirl Ball Ramp has five stories for the ball to travel. Each piece is stack-able, so it helps teach the concept of building, and the three colorful plastic balls ride down the ramp to entertain you and your little one. I love the bright colors, lightweight plastic and overall simple versatility of this toy. Our only problem is that little man likes to knock it over more than he likes to put the balls at the top to watch them roll down.
You can find more toys from Earlyears on their website with toys ranging from 0-12 months; there are cute, affordable, and developmentally appropriate toys for all the little ones on your list.
