Bridge of Spies is coming to theaters everywhere October 16, 2015, and it could very well be the best thriller of the fall. This tense thriller, set in the Cold War era, tells the story of an unlikely recruit of the CIA and his mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.
Bridge of Spies is a Thriller to See
Bridge of Spies brings everything we all know and love about Cold War dramas back in a big way. This exciting thriller, based on true events, tells the story of an unlikely CIA recruit – a lawyer named James Donovan. This Brooklyn lawyer finds himself smack in the middle of Cold War intrigue when the CIA recruits him to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Along the way, he must risk everything to bring himself and the hostage back alive, as he navigates the dangerous world of political intrigue and perpetual danger of the Cold War era.
Bridge of Spies is sure to be one of the best thrillers we’ve seen in a long time. Its production and directorial staff along with its powerhouse cast has me feeling quite optimistic about the potential for this movie. Bridge of Spies is produced by Steven Spielberg, Marc Platte, and Kristie Macosko Krieger and directed by Steven Spielberg. In addition, it’s written by Matt Charman, and the always impressive, Ethan and Joel Coen.
If that’s not enough to get you excited, take a look at this amazingly talented cast:
- Tom Hanks as James Donovan: Two-time Academy Award winner.
- Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel: Three-time Tony Award winner.
- Scott Shepherd as CIA operative Hoffman
- Amy Ryan as Mary Donovan: Academy Award nominee.
- Sebastian Koch as East German lawyer, Vogel
- Alan Alda as Thomas Watters: Academy Award nominee.
