Most of us have heard of Febreze, you may even have some of their products in your home. Maybe sometimes you remember to use them, but for the most part, your house doesn’t smell so bad, right? Did you know your nose learns to become BLIND to smells in your home? I recently received products from Febreze in order to facilitate a Febreze NoseBlind test in my home and to share my experience with you.
Febreze NoseBlind Test
Febreze suggested I throw a movie night party in my home to facilitate my Febreze NoseBlind Test. It was so fun to have friends over, and of course when offered pizza, popcorn, and a movie – they were happy to help me out with the Febreze NoseBlind Test! First, we completed a survey about the smells in the home – before the food was delivered. I am going to guess that most of my guests were smelling baby, a specifically dirty diaper, which is all I can seem to smell anymore! Then we opened up the food and popped some popcorn. Again, we completed a survey about what we smelled – and I said it was definitely the popcorn! Down to business – we started our movie! Once the movie was over, we again completed a survey about what we smelled after the movie. Finally, we got to spray the Febreze!
Did you know that the olfactory system (the smelling system) helps categorize and prioritize different smells? In this categorizing, your olfactory system can adapt to smells that are familiar and focus on less familiar smells. This all means – the stink in your house is not getting fixed because you can’t even smell it anymore! Your stinky shoes or bathroom is all just “normal” to you now… and most likely, your guests aren’t going to tell you that!
Febreze doesn’t just mix with the odor, or try to mask the odor like other air fresheners. Febreze actually destroys the odors in your home with a molecule that traps and eliminates the odor. From now on – I am going to have Febreze on hand to spray around the house at a moment’s notice for anytime I have guests over. Make sure to find out about the entire Febreze product line on twitter @Febreze and the Febreze Facebook page.
