Taking the first steps to teach your little ones about oral care is really important, and it can be really easy too! From pacifiers to tasting just about anything he comes in contact with – it is important to me to teach my son oral care. NUK sent me products for free to facilitate this post, all opinions are my own.
Healthy Oral Development for Toddlers with NUK
With almost a full mouth of teeth at 18 months old, we decided it was time to start brushing them regularly. Thank goodness my son LOVES to brush his teeth! NUK sent us the Grins & Giggles Toothbrush set to try out. The thicker toothbrush handle is easier for little dude to grab, and I love that the toothpaste has no artificial colors (why do so many things need to have dye in them?!). The toothpaste is also fluoride-free, dairy-free and gluten-free. Now when I get my toothbrush out, he runs to get his too.
Neither of us are ready to give up the pacifier quite yet, but I know it is best for his oral development (and less of a swallow hazard) if we are using pacifiers that are suited for his age. NUK has a range of pacifier sizes, so we just made the step up to those specifically designed for kids that are 18-36 months old. Like the rest of their pacifiers, the shape of the pacifier tip is designed to promote the best oral development, and pacifier use promotes healthy teeth alignment by avoiding thumb sucking. Ready for any sport, we have the baseball, soccer and football patterned pacifiers – and I especially like the blue Marrakesh and whales designs.
