The new Captain America movie, Civil War is finally on its way! BOOYAH! Marvel Studios has officially begun production on this bad boy, and it's going to be insane. This will be the first crossover in the Marvel cinematic universe. I'm having a full-on geek out, right now!
This Captain America Movie is a First for Marvel
This. Well, this is absolutely awesome. I know, I know! I use that word a lot. I'm trying to cut back, but if I can't use it here, where CAN I use it? If you're only into the movies, the new Captain America movie's crossover goodness might be lost to you, but as a long time Marvel comics reader, I'm going to fill you in on why this is one of the biggest things that's ever happened in your life.
Sure, there have been some characters from Winter Soldier on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. That's sort of a crossover. But the new Captain America movie will be a TRUE crossover. Captain America: Civil War is an actual crossover with a HUGE story arc in the Marvel comic books. This new Captain America movie is so truly, hugely epic because it's the very first cinematic crossover from Marvel. That's a huge deal. A gigantic, Hulk-sized deal!
Everybody's Getting in on It
Captain America: Civil War picks up where Age of Ultron left off, with Cap leading a new team of Avengers. After an international incident involving The Avengers results in heavy collateral damage, a governing body is installed to determine when to enlist the team. This oversight and bureaucracy splinters the team even as they try to save the world from new powerful threats. Now, it's getting real, people. Really real. The new Captain America movie is the biggest thing to happen in my geeky life ever. Period.
Remember in my Ant-Man article that I talked about how he would most certainly be making his way to The Avengers? Did I call, or did I CALL IT?! In the new Captain America movie, Civil War, Ant-Man will take his rightful place as one of the Avengers. The Avengers will have a slightly different line up this time around. A theme in the comic books which I also referenced and called.
