I really do not want to be one of those parents that have a safety lock on every window, door, cabinet, toilet, outlet, door knob… you get the idea. However, I know it is all important. I know little fingers get into things they shouldn’t, little walkers and crawlers get into things that are not safe – and I need to be prepared. KidCo helps me prepare for a mover! I received a baby gate from KidCo in exchange for my review.
KidCo Baby Gate
We have had a baby gate at the top of our stairs since we moved in. Our cat likes to get into things upstairs more than he should – so we blocked him out. However, this gate was creaky, squeaky, and since the gate portion didn’t go all the way across the opening, it was too small to get through with a load of clothes or, now, a wiggly baby. We were excited to receive a gate that opened up the entire width of the opening, and much quieter when in use (no more waking baby!).
The Safeway G2100 gate I received was designed specifically for top of the stairs use (where we wanted to use it!), but it can be used anywhere else too. The gate is easy to use (even in the middle of the night when I am tired but need to get a bottle for the little dude). The hardware is designed in a way that it can be mounted on an angle if required. While installing a hardware mounted gate is a little more involved than our pressure mount gate, it is so convenient to not have to adjust or remove it when we need to get a wider load through (like the baby gear that gets moved up and down the stairs often). If you have wood balusters on your stairway, you can buy their installation kits that keep you from having to drill into your beautiful wood directly.
You can find KidCo gates at a variety of retailers – check with the where to buy page at KidCo.com. KidCo not only has safety gear, but baby gear – I especially love our Peapod tent and cannot wait for their TravelPod to be released this fall.
