The Mommy MD Guides
Although this is my third pregnancy, I still have a lot of questions. I wonder about things that I forgot with my first two pregnancies. I wonder about our baby girl’s growth and development. I wonder about certain feelings I have, among many other things. I believe with each pregnancy things are somewhat different, if not completely. Mine have mostly been the same, however, I know I have a ton of questions each and every time I am pregnant. I have always enjoyed reading, but now that I have a 16 month old running around it’s rather difficult to find time to read. I was so excited about The Mommy MD Guides because they are split up into sections and make for very easy reading! These books are written by two women, a doctor and a writer/editor, both of whom have children of their own. Each book includes over 900 tips! Even as a third time mom, I can use these tips!! The first book that I reviewed is “The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth”. This book is incredibly easy to follow and read. It is separated into chapters that each represent a week of your pregnancy. The first three sections of the book represent the first three trimesters and part four is about the birth of your baby! I love that it includes this section and doesn’t just leave you wondering what will happen after that 40th week if you are a first time mom.
I received these books a few weeks ago and have been able to read a bit each night so that by the end of that particular week of my pregnancy I have finished the chapter. It works out great for those of us who are already moms and have little time to read. Let’s look at this week of my pregnancy as an example. I am in my thirtieth week of my pregnancy this week. I love that the beginning of each chapter (week) tells you the baby’s size (around three pounds right now and about 17 inches tall!). It also goes through and tells you your baby’s developments in the beginning of the chapter as well as YOUR latest developments. It was reassuring to know that the waddling, breast tenderness, the returning nausea and the increased tiredness are normal at this point. I was beginning to wonder why I felt like I was in my first trimester again! Each chapter also gives you a reason to celebrate – love this! This week’s reason is that my baby is now capable of producing tears! It also goes through and explains many of the symptoms you may be feeling at this specific time of the pregnancy. It’s a great wealth of knowledge for a pregnant woman and even an expecting dad. Many nights I sit with my husband and we read this together. He’s interested in what’s happening with our baby and it’s a great help for him to understand what I am feeling.
The second book, “The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year” is just as great! This book includes over 900 tips that 70 doctors who are also mothers use during their babies’ first year. This book is broken up month by month of your baby’s first year. Each chapter starts out with a section on your baby’s development and continues by then addressing different things you and your baby are going through. I know I can’t wait to follow through with this book when our baby girl arrives. It’s great to have something on hand that can reassure you whether or not things are normal.
Like I said earlier, even as a third time mother I am thrilled to read these books. They have a wealth of information and I love the simplicity of them, not to mention the fact that I can trust the advice that comes from professionals and experts who are also moms! The tips included in both books are tips that each of these women use in their own homes, with their own pregnancies and their own children. These are great sources that can help first time moms understand what is going on, while at the same time, can reassure every mom in a calming manner.
These books are available on MommyMDGuides.com, on Amazon and can be ordered from bookstores nationwide. They are also available for the Kindle, Nook or iPhone/iPad. They also have an iPhone app available and they just launched their companion website for daddies, DaddyMDGuides.com. This won’t be the last time you hear about The Mommy MD Guides! They are fantastic for any mom or mom-to-be!
