Directions
Get the Freezer Ready
Make space in your freezer for a flat cutting board or baking sheet. Line it with parchment paper to keep the whipped cream hearts from sticking.
Trace Your Mug
Place your mug on the parchment paper. Trace the rim to make circle templates, spacing each one about an inch apart. This helps you create the perfect size hearts for your mug. Once complete, put the mug aside. This step is optional, but highly recommended. If you make the hearts too big, it will be difficult to get them to melt into your mug.
Prep Your Pastry Bag
Spoon the thawed whipped topping into a large pastry bag. Use a small star tip to make the design.
Pipe the Hearts
Put the parchment paper back on the cutting board or baking sheet. Pipe a heart shape inside each circle you made. Fill the heart in with more whipped topping. Add a second layer on top using dollops, stripes, or any pattern you like.
Add Sprinkles
While the whipped cream is still soft, sprinkle the hearts with Valentine sprinkles or small icing decorations.
Freeze
Place the board or sheet into the freezer. Let the hearts freeze for at least four hours or overnight.
Use the Hearts
When you’re ready to use, make some hot cocoa however you like. Take the hearts out of the freezer. Gently remove them from the parchment paper using a spatula or by peeling them off. Place a heart on top of your hot drink(s) and serve right away.
