My mom suffers from pretty bad anxiety. The fear of flying insects is crippling and because of this she rarely leaves the house–especially in the spring, summer, and fall. When I saw the Garden Igloo, I knew this amazing product would allow her to create a bubble in outdoor paradise. Safe from wasps and all other flying horrors she is now able to get out and enjoy her beautiful yard.

I am so thankful to the people behind Garden Igloo for sending this along. My mom LOVES it! While I received this product for review, all thoughts shared here are based on my authentic experience.

Garden Igloo

As you can plainly see, the Garden Igloo is beautiful. Its design is superb and the quality is apparent. I’ll discuss the set-up in detail below, but in short, it is super easy.

All you need is level ground to place your Garden Igloo upon. We ended up building a platform so that we can leave it up almost all year. Plus, this allows the rain to wash right under the deck and not effect the Igloo at all.

We live on a heavily wooded lot about the size of an acre and a quarter. It’s gorgeous. However, there are tons of flying creatures that also call this land home. Some beautiful butterflies, and some super pesky mosquitos. But the most irritating are probably the wasps.

I don’t have anxiety like my mom, but it is definitely hard to relax outside when vicious insects are buzzing your face every few minutes.

Last year, I can count on one hand the amount of times my mom left the house. Not only is this sad, but it’s having a huge impact on her health. She’s deficient in vitamin D and just generally not as happy as she could be.

Now that we have the Garden Igloo, she’s venturing out almost every day! I seriously cannot begin to explain how incredible this is. It’s been great for the whole family. Plus we are experiencing our property in a whole new light.

We enjoy our morning coffee while sitting under the morning dew and watching the sun’s rays peak through the forest trees. We listen to the birds. We watch all the wildlife from a whole new perspective. It’s been magical to say the least.

I can’t wait to see how the Garden Igloo holds up through the seasons. I may put some plants inside it during the winter to see if the greenhouse effect will keep them thriving. Plus, I’d love to have a permanently green space to get through those dreary winter months.

Does the Garden Igloo get too hot and humid?

You might be thinking, good grief, doesn’t it get hot in there? Well, the answer is no. There are two windows strategically placed to encourage just the right air flow so that even when the sun is in full force, the heat is escaping. However, they allow bugs to freely enter, so my mom created screens to fit over them and problem solved.

Assembly

It may look like a complicated design but the instructions are very easy to understand and illustrated perfectly. In total, it took us under an hour to put the whole thing together and we even made a mistake in the beginning. (51 minutes and 21 seconds to be precise.)

To see how the assembly goes, watch the video above! And yes, dancing is necessary. 🙂

FAQ

Can you move it?
Yes. We secured our Garden Igloo to the wooden deck it is situated on because we plan to leave it there, but it can be disassembled and reassembled in a different location. It is recommended that you anchor it to whichever surface you use. You don’t want the wind to blow it away.

It also comes with several canvas pouches so you can store the different sized plastic rods in an organized manner when not in use.

How sturdy is it?
If you watch in the video above, you can see how strong the skeleton is. So strong, in fact I plan on hanging some plants from the ceiling of it. It is weatherproof and rust resistant so we plan to leave it up all year!

Does it have windows?
Yes, as mentioned above, there are two windows. But they don’t have screens. They can be easily made with a little DIY, or you can get the mosquito net for the whole thing!

How long did it take to assemble?
Under an hour. For us, even after messing up initially, it only took a little over 51 minutes.

I followed you guys on Snapchat as you set up this gorgeous igloo and I have to say I’m STILL jealous you own this! I wish I had a yard like yours because than investing in something like this would actually make sense but alas, this would probably take up the whole of our small suburban backyard. Maybe one day. In the meantime enjoy those beautiful mornings a little bit for me please!

This looks awesome! I just bought one today. Where did you get the plans for the deck? How big is the deck?

    1. Hi Tracy!
That’s awesome! Congrats on your purchase!

I’m sorry to say, I don’t really know about the deck. My stepdad put it together in one weekend. I want to say it’s 12′ x 12′ and the Garden Igloo comes very close to the edges. I think the diameter of the Igloo is just under 12 feet.

I hope that helps! Let us know how you like the Igloo!

  7. I really like this, such an enchanting way to keep some distance from the biters and stingers.
