Gluten-Free Dog Nutrition
I recently went to a human doctor who informed me that I should try a gluten-free diet. Long story short, I am not actually allergic to gluten. From what I understood, gluten is generally harmful to everyone these days due to how much wheat has been genetically modified. Strictly speaking, it’s not actually wheat anymore. This genetically modified wheat-type grain can cause inflammation throughout the body and trigger new allergies.
Don’t quote me on this, but at the time what he was saying all made sense to me. After laying off the gluten for a bit, I started to notice a difference. I had less aches and pains, and felt a lot less crappy overall. I am still on a road towards being healthier, but instant gratification is a bonus.
My point to all this is that if gluten is causing problems in our human systems, then why wouldn’t it be similar for our pets? I am open to trying different foods for our guys and finding what works the best for them. We love them so much and only want to provide them with the ultimate nutrition.
With Hilo turning 7 on November 1st, his aging body can use all the nutrients it can get. Our other two littler guys still need the best nourishment for their growing bodies. In fact, I was just told that The Grump has some not-so-clean teeth.

I had a dog once who was allergic to EVERYTHING. We had to get him a special bland food that he hated. So glad to see their are new optioins on the market.
We’ve never tried Natural Balance, but our vet does recommend it. I like that there are so many varieties with targeted nutrition for multiple life stages and needs.
You know, I read about what your doctor was saying about wheat. Apparently, it’s been so genetically modified to grow in all sorts of condition that it really ISN’T wheat anymore. It’s actual genetic makeup is all… wonky.
Our puppy is a part of the family and deserves the best. I’ve got to check out Natural Balance so that I can give my dog the proper nutrition for the different stages in his life.
This sounds like great dog food. I can only imagine how gluten would affect a dog’s system. They’re not even built to handle that kind of carbohydrate.

I have been researching dog food for a few days now. I have two little dogs and one has allergies so i am trying to find what would be the best choice. This brand looks like it would be a good option.
Our pets eat Blue Buffalo brand foods since they don’t use artificial ingredients or grains. It’s great for pets with food allergies.
We just had to change our dogs food because of the bi-product causing digestive issues. I would rather pay more for their food and have the happy and healthy.

Until one of my cats got a UTI, I never realized that the quality of their food, plays a huge part in their health. I will keep this info in my when we finally get a puppy next year. 🙂 Nutrition for our pets is so extremely important!

I never thought about giving my dog a gluten free diet. I think that it is a good idea because to much grains in a dog’s food is not healthy. A dog’s food needs more protein and veges instead of all the unhealthy grain byproducts that are in dog food. It is so important to feed our dog the best dog food we can buy.
