orange mushrooms
Found these on a trail while running at Swallow Cliff

I love going for walks and exploring… Lucky for me, I don’t have to go far. I live in the woods! Look at some of these mushrooms found right in my backyard.

This guy was in my back yard.

These were also in my yard…

I guess they’re call Puffballs

puffball
I’ve lived here all 27 years of my life and have never seen these! They’re huge–and I guess edible if they are white all the way through…

How awesome is that! I would love to live in the woods like you do 🙂
Look at those mushrooms!! I would totally try those puffballs out if they truly are edible ^.^

  2. We had big white mushrooms growing across the road this year, about the size of a vollyball. I had never seen them that big! I wonder what is making them grow so large this year?

  3. so freaking jealous of your harvest! are you going to eat any of them?

    1. I did not eat of them, as I am not comfortable with the risk… I really don’t know enough about them. However, I found out later that my neighbor eats the Puffballs. As long as they are white all they way through, they are safe to eat… Next time we find these, maybe I’ll give it a try! 🙂

      1. I just recently learned about puffballs being edible and understand your caution. I am currently reading the book “Chanterelle Dreams, Amanita Nightmares: The Love, Lore, and Mystique of Mushrooms” by Greg Marley and am learning a lot about mushrooms and all the unfounded fears we have about them. VERY interesting! Highly suggested read!

  5. Those are some BIG Mushrooms!

  6. Jaycee and I went on a mushroom hunt back in August. We found almost every color of the rainbow. It was fun! The ones you found are huge! I’d be afraid to eat any of them, though. Up here, there are several that look exactly alike, but one is edible and one is poisonous. Very cool, though!
