Why Self Care is Important and Warm Cinnamon Chai Recipe

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Oregon Chai®. The opinions and text are all mine.

If you haven’t figured out why self-care is important yet, be sure that your body will let you know sooner or later. About two months ago I got trapped into the wormhole that is YouTube. I watched video after video about eCommerce and different businesses online entrepreneurs start. Of course, that ignited a fire in me to start all of it, everywhere, immediately. There’s no dipping a toe in; I dive right into whatever interests me.

Why Self Care is Important – Make Time for It

I’ll save you the boring details and skip right to the present time where I am drowning in boxes of physical inventory, digital responsibilities, and mental regret. This is not a “poor me” post, rather a cautionary tale to listen to your body and its warning signs. Know when you take on too much and what you need to do once you get overwhelmed. By trying to do everything, I end up busy but not productive. I’m like a crazed hamster on a wheel. Not only is my body sick, but everything around me seems to crumble.

Warm chai tea in my mermaid blanket is the perfect me time

The holiday season is here. While this brings wonder and magic to many, it spurs anxiety and stress in some. During chaotic schedules, it’s even more important to know why self-care is important. Even if you have to squeeze “me time” into your packed calendar, be sure to do so. This is the time of year when even the most organized people require downtime and recharging.

“Me time” is different for everyone. It’s like charging your battery, so choose activities that leave you feeling rested. For some, that’s going out and socializing where I find that draining. Mike and I both enjoy time in front of our fireplace watching a movie or shows to relax.

Warm Cinnamon Chai Recipe

Of course, proper recharging time requires a warm and cozy beverage. I decided to try something sweet and spicy with Oregon Chai®. Meijer has three flavors of Oregon Chai – The Original, Sugar-Free, and Slightly Sweet. Original and Slightly Sweet are organic and non-GMO project verified. Each one is delicious on its own or perfect for creating recipes. My Meijer had one flavor of Oregon Chai available on a higher shelf. It’s clear by the empty spots that The Original Oregon Chai is a hot ticket item. Be sure to hunt it down in the coffee aisle, so you don’t miss it.

Chai tea lattes are all the rage right now and no longer require a professional barista. Skip the coffee shop and make your own indulgent and possibly better-for-you chai tea drinks at home. Play around with trendy flavors and come up with the perfect blend to entice your palate and soothe your soul.

Warm cinnamon chai is the perfect addition to my self care routine. Whip up a big batch for guests during holiday gatherings. If Christmas had a flavor, I believe it would taste quite a bit like chai.

Give yourself permission to recharge before your body forces you to do so. Put your air mask on first as flight attendants advise. We all know why self care is important, so now let’s all make sure we make time for it.

Chai Tea is literally my go to treat when I’m feeling low and/or celebrating treating myself. Running around like crazy especially during holiday season, important to take a break and treat yourself once and awhile.

I recently discovered chia tea. I am a coffee drinker, but had gotten a gift basket with some of this tea in it. It was quite good, actually better than good I like it in the evenings a whole lot. My ‘me’ time is spent outside with the dog or if it’s too cold out inside with a book petting a cat!

When I need time to sit and reflect, I always reach for a hot cup of something. I’m not a huge chocolate person so cocoa is out for me. But I love Chai! I’ll have to look for this in the stores as it sounds like the best way to relax!

I am adding this to the shopping list. I’ve been trying several different teas and hot chocolates this winter, this sounds like a great option as well.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s so important to listen to what your body is telling you, and take time to take care of yourself.
