If you love the peppermint mocha drink from Starbucks, here’s a recipe you should try at home.

This is actually a dark chocolate peppermint mocha. A dark chocolate hot cocoa mix was used in this recipe.

Dark Chocolate Peppermint Mocha

You can easily use milk chocolate to make it a regular mocha. Heck, experiment with other hot chocolate mixes, as well.

You could probably make a white chocolate peppermint mocha drink, too.

Of course, the best topping to this peppermint mocha drink is homemade whipped cream.

You can use a can of whipped cream from the store, but homemade is much more scrumptious, in my opinion.

The recipe to make your own whipped cream is included below. Other topping ideas include chocolate shavings, crushed peppermints, or chocolate chips.

The peppermint oil used is by LorAnn Oils. A little goes a long way!

Start with the suggestion in the recipe because you can always add more should you want to.

The peppermint oil is a candy and baking flavoring that you can find at Joann Fabrics or Michaels. It seems to be seasonally available at Walmart and Meijer.

Of course, it’s also found at the trusty Amazon.com, which seems to be the easiest route to take in many cases!

Use the type of milk you prefer. Whole milk, 2%, 1%, or nonfat will all be delicious.

This drink is the perfect blend of coffee, chocolate, and mint. It’s ideal for those times when you can’t decide between coffee or hot chocolate.

The minty flavor makes peppermint mocha ideal for the holidays. Make a big batch for your holiday party.

Or, make enough for your family for your next movie night. Curl up in front of the TV with your favorite mugs to catch up on the latest movies and shows.

If you order peppermint mochas from Starbucks all the time and want to try to make your own, definitely see if this recipe is a good replacement for you.

As I’ve said with other Starbucks copycat recipes, it’s not that we want to pass up the coffeehouse forever, it’s just nice to be able to control the ingredients and save a few bucks by making something similar from home.
